Van Ho district will hold the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2024 on a district scale in Chieng Khoa commune from March 15-17.

Within the framework of the Son Tra (Hawthorn) Flower Festival 2024, agricultural and cultural products, and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products of Muong La district and affiliated and adjacent districts were displayed and introduced to visitors on March 9 afternoon in Ngoc Chien commune.

Currently, Son La province has 611 tourist accommodation establishments, of which there are eight hotels rated 3 stars or more, and the rest are motels, homestays and other types of accommodation.

This year's festival will feature many activities, such as announcing the exclusive protection certificate for the festival; granting the certification of the largest hawthorn flower forest in the country; displaying agricultural products, culture, and products under the One Commune Once Product (OCOP) programme; a community culinary competition; displaying beautiful photos of culture and tourism in the Northwest region; and folk games.

Since the beginning of 2024, Son La province has greeted over 835,000 tourists and earned about 1 trillion VND (40.6 million USD) in tourism revenue.

At this time, the canola flower fields in Van Ho district are blooming, attracting a large number of tourists to experience and capture beautiful moments during the early spring days.

A peach blossom festival opened in Long Luong commune, Van Ho district on February 17, the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, attracting crowds of visitors in and outside Son La province.  

As a destination for more than a decade, every spring, Quynh Nhai reservoir in Son La province is always filled with immense water, inviting tourists from near and far.

Whenever spring comes, hamlets in the northwestern region in general and Son La in particular are wearing new clothes, with the colours of all kinds of flowers and fruits.

The 2024 Vietnam Trail Marathon took place in Moc Chau district on January 20, bringing together more than 4,000 runners from 40 countries and territories.

Son La welcomed 4.5 million visitors in 2023, an increase of over 36% over the same period of the previous year, with tourism revenue estimated at 4.7 trillion VND (193 million USD), up over 58% year-on-year.

Pha Din is known near and far as one of the "four great passes" in the Northwest, where the air is fresh and suitable for tourists to go picnic and camping. Pha Din Top, a tourist site at the top of the pass, is one of Son La province’s famous destinations which is always covered by various colours of flowers, and attracts a large number of tourists.

Winners of the Son La tourism brand award 2023 were honoured at a ceremony held by the provincial People’s Committee on December 29.

Hang Dong commune, Bac Yen district currently has 10 households providing homestay and motel services, meeting the needs of tourists.

Trang Thi Xuan, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee, on December 27 chaired a workshop on the conditions for recognising the Moc Chau National Tourist Area in 2023.

Since the beginning of 2023, Mai Son district has welcomed more than 13,000 tourists to its tourist destinations, including Muong Bon eco-tourism site, Phieng Cam tea hill, traditional craft village in Muong Chanh, and Co Noi T-junction historical relic site.

Revenue from accommodation, catering, tourism, travel and other services in Son La province reached more than 810 billion VND (33.3 million USD) in November, an increase of nearly 22% over the same period last year.

Ta Xua is more than 10km from the center of Bac Yen highland district, with cool climate all year round. This place is not only known for its ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees and the extremely unique hand-oxidation of tea leaves by the Mong people, but also famous for a sea of white, floating clouds very attractive to tourists.

The Son La provincial People's Committee organised an art programme themed "Colours of Son La - Northwest" at Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on December 5 evening.

Quynh Nhai has welcomed over 230,000 tourists so far this year, up 134% from 2022 and 7.5% higher than the 2023 plan, earning 86 billion VND (3.54 million USD) in tourism revenue.
