Capitalising on its natural strengths and potential, the Moc Chau plateau is developing a variety of distinctive agricultural products linked to tourism. The combination of high-tech agriculture and experiential tourism at local vineyards is creating a new direction for the region, offering visitors impressive check-in spots while also demonstrating economic efficiency and promoting sustainable rural development.

If Son La captivates visitors during the day with its lush tea hills, vibrant flower seasons, and majestic natural landscapes, then at night, travellers are immersed in the unique cultural activities of the province's ethnic communities. Under sparkling lights, graceful xoe dances, the resonant sounds of khen (panpipe), and community cultural exchange activities create a colourful nighttime atmosphere. Each experience offers a journey into local life, customs, and traditional cultural values that have been preserved through generations, contributing to Son La's distinctive appeal.

With its cool climate, stunning natural landscapes and vast orchards, Son La is emerging as an appealing “green tourism” destination for travellers near and far during summer holidays, while shaping its tourism brand and identity.

Located in the western border area of Son La province, Phieng Khoai is known as a land rich in revolutionary traditions, possessing pristine natural landscapes and distinctive cultural identities of the Mong, Thai, and Xinh Mun ethnic groups. From its existing historical, cultural, and natural values, the locality is gradually unlocking its potential to develop community-based and eco-tourism associated with agricultural experiences.

Ha Trung Chien, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, on May 8 chaired a conference on tourism development in Moc Chau and preparations for the 2026 Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week.

During the April 30 – May 1 holiday, Moc Chau ward welcomed more than 25,000 visitors, with an estimated 30 billion VND (1.34 million USD) in tourism revenue. Tourism activities across the area were vibrant and diverse, meeting the growing demand of visitors.

During the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, Ngoc Chien commune attracted nearly 5,000 visitors while Muong La commune welcomed 2,800 tourists.

During the April 30 – May 1 holiday, Van Ho commune welcomed more than 15,000 tourists for sightseeing and experiential activities.

During the first three days of the four-day April 30 - May 1 holiday, Ta Xua commune received more than 5,200 visitors who came for sightseeing and relaxation, and to admire its majestic natural beauty. Total tourism revenue during this period exceeded 5.4 billion VND (204,887 USD).

These days, streets and parks in To Hieu ward are adorned with the gentle pink hues of crape myrtle, creating a romantic scene in the heart of streets.

Son La ready to welcome visitors during public holidays

The Moc Chau National Tourist Area, with its many scenic landscapes, attractive experiential tourism spots, and unique cultural and culinary features, is an ideal destination for visitors during this year’s April 30 - May 1 holiday.

Viet–Lao International Community Tourism Development Cooperation Co., Ltd., based in Hung Yen province, on April 21 held the inauguration ceremony of its Huong Lien Travel Office in To Hieu ward, Son La province.

Son La boasts diverse natural advantages, with mountainous terrain covering most of its area, majestic primary forests, rich vegetation, winding mountain passes and peaks shrouded in clouds year-round. These are significant strengths for the province to develop hiking and trekking tourism.

The People’s Committee of Chieng Coi ward on March 27 held a conference to announce the Hun Hamlet Agricultural Tourism Project for the 2025–2030 period, with a vision to 2035.
