Delegations from the Vietnamese provinces of Dien Bien, Son La, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, and the Lao provinces of Houaphanh, Phongsaly, Luang Prabang and Xieng Khouang, offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at a temple dedicated to him at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square on July 23.

Delegations from the Lao provinces of Phongsaly, Luang Phabang, Houaphanh, and Xiengkhouang on July 22 attended the 22nd meeting on cross border drug prevention and control among eight provinces, hosted in Son La province.

Through a variety of flexible and creative communication methods, Son La province has significantly enhanced the effectiveness of its external information efforts, bringing the image of its land, people, cultural identity, and development potential closer to the international community. These efforts have contributed to promoting the province’s reputation and standing, expanding opportunities for cooperation, attracting investment, and effectively supporting socio-economic development.

Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of Son La's delegation of National Assembly deputies, on June 28 attended the handover ceremony of classrooms at the Oudomxay provincial School of Politics and Administration, as part of his working visit to Laos.

Continuing their working visit to Laos, a high-level delegation of Son La province led by Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, on June 27 held talks with leaders of Bokeo province and signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026–2029 period.

As part of their working visit to Laos’ Luang Prabang province, a high-level delegation of Son La province led by Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, visited and surveyed several cultural heritage sites, key tourist attractions, and cooperation projects between the two localities on June 26.

A high-level delegation of Son La province led by Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee and head of the province’s delegation of National Assembly deputies, completed exit procedures at Tay Trang International Border Gate in Dien Bien province on June 25 to begin a working visit to the Lao provinces of Luang Prabang, Bokeo and Oudomxay.

A delegation from the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of Laos’ Oudomxay and Phongsaly provinces on June 24 paid a working visit to Son La province. The delegation was received by leaders of the Son La Department of Agriculture and Environment, along with representatives of its affiliated units.

A delegation led by Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam Ito Naoki, accompanied by his spouse, paid a working visit to Son La province on June 6.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on June 1 chaired a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments and agencies to review preparations for the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee’s working visit to Laos’ Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, and Bokeo provinces.

Director of the Department of Justice of Laos’ Oudomxay province Van Si Phuong Ma Lay on May 7 led a delegation to visit Son La province for experience sharing in judicial affairs and civil judgment enforcement. Receiving and working with the delegation were leaders of the Son La Department of Justice and Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on April 28 chaired a working session with the provincial Border Guard Command and relevant agencies to review the progress of making a detailed plan for and investment in completing the Chieng Khuong main border gate in Son La province (Phase I ).

Operating around the clock with no days off, the Vietnam–Laos friendship military-civilian clinic at the Long Sap International Border Gate Border Guard Station has become a trusted hub for healthcare services for ethnic minority communities in the remote highland border area.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong on April 21 chaired a working session with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to prepare for developing a project on results-based payments for the emission reductions achieved by reduction of deforestation and forest degradation, and enhancement of forest carbon stocks during the period of 2014 in Vietnam (JICA-GCF).

Son La Medical College on April 16 held a programme to celebrate the 2026 traditional Lao New Year (Bunpimay). Attendees included representaatives of the provincial Youth Union, the Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as 256 Lao students currently learning at the college.
