In an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation, delegates shared experience in Youth Union activities and youth and children’s movements in 2026, as well as solutions to mobilise and unite young people and improve the effectiveness of youth union activities and youth movements at the grassroots level.

The discussions also covered notable achievements under the “Four Breakthroughs” movement and initiatives supporting young people; ways to promote the pioneering role and creativity of youth in socio-economic development, preservation of national cultural identity, and building strong youth union organisations.

Leaders of the Bokeo and Luang Namtha Youth Unions expressed their desire to further expand cooperation and strengthen mutual support in implementing youth-related activities and youth and children’s movements.

The Lao side proposed that the Son La provincial Youth Union support the establishment of a Youth Development Centre in Luang Namtha province; mobilise Vietnamese volunteers to come to Laos to organise Vietnamese-language classes for Lao officials and youth union members; and explore cooperation on the construction of a “Friendship House” for poor wounded soldiers and veterans in Bokeo province in 2028.

Leaders of the Son La provincial Youth Union affirmed that external relations and friendship exchanges with young people in neighbouring Lao provinces are an important task carried out through cultural and sports exchanges, volunteer programmes, and support for Lao students studying in Vietnam.

In 2027, the Youth Unions of Son La and the nine northern Lao provinces will review five years of implementation of their Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. They will also prepare for the development and signing of a new memorandum covering the 2027-2032 period. The discussions at the meeting will provide an important foundation for preparations for future cooperation programmes.

Following the talks, the delegations of the Bokeo and Luang Namtha Youth Unions paid a courtesy call on Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee and President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee. They briefed him on the outcomes of their talks with the Son La provincial Youth Union on youth union work and youth and children’s movements./.
