As part of the 2025 cultural, sports, and tourism festival for ethnic minority and mountainous communities in Tuong Ha commune, villagers and visitors packed Ban Cai flower garden on December 14 to watch and take part in folk games.

The People’s Committee of Ta Xua commune, in coordination with Belove Mountain Co., Ltd., held the closing ceremony of the Son La Ultra Trail 2025 on December 7.

As part of the series of activities for the Ethnic Cultural Festival and Orange Festival 2025 in Muong Coi commune, various traditional folk game competitions took place, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors.

The Son La Ultra Trail 2025 opened in Ta Xua commune on December 5 with the participation of nearly 1,000 domestic and international runners. The event highlights the province’s growing appeal for adventure sports combined with nature exploration.

The Son La team secured a bronze medal at the National 7-a-side Women’s Football Championship – Carefor Cup 2025, which took place in Hanoi from November 15-22.

Xuan Nha commune currently has 32 volleyball teams and 36 football teams; more than 1,500 people regularly participating in physical training and sports activities, accounting for 15% of the population; and 150 households achieving the “Sports Family” standard.

As part of a series of events celebrating the 130th founding anniversary of Son La province (October 10, 1895 – 2025), the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism opened a competition of traditional sports and ethnic folk games on October 8 morning at Tay Bac Square. The event formed part of the National Target Programme on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas .

Dak Lak province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Sports Authority of Vietnam, the Vietnam Elderly Association and the Vietnam Badminton Federation, hosted the 2025 National Senior Badminton Championship at the Dak Lak Sports Arena from September 24 to 30.

Two female athletes from Son La province won two golds at the International Taekwondo Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 24-29.

The tournament was jointly organised by the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam, and the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen province.

Son La province is home to 12 ethnic groups, each of whom has its own traditional sports, such as “nem con” (cloth ball throwing), “to mak le”, stilt walking, “tu lu” (spinning top game), “nem pao”, stick pushing, and crossbow shooting. These activities are often held during festivals, holidays, and New Year celebrations, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere, and becoming an indispensable part of community life.

As part of the Muong La Cultural Festival 2025, volleyball matches and folk games took place in the commune, drawing a large number of local residents and visitors.

Muong La commune on September 1 organised a running race themed “Muong La on the Move” to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Muong Gion commune on August 29 organised a running race with the participation of 425 athletes, including local officials, civil servants, workers, and residents.

Son La province’s team, which comprises 20 athletes, won two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, ranking 6th out of 14 provinces and cities competing at the third National Youth & Junior Tug of War Championship.
