The race features five distances - 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, and 25 km - for both men and women. The course starts from the grounds next to the Phieng Panh hamlet Cultural House, follows the road toward Muong La, passes through Nam Nghe (the Phieng Nghe hamlet Cultural House in the former Chieng Den commune), the Phieng Nieu hamlet football field (the former Chieng Den commune), the coffee hill hollow and summit, before finishing at the entrance to the Chieng An ward People’s Committee.
The route winds through lush green coffee hills, where clusters of ripe red coffee cherries hang heavily from the branches, against the distinctive highland landscape of Son La.
Preparations for the race are currently being carried out urgently by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Chieng An ward. Key preparations are being reviewed and finalised, including the race course, start and finish areas, water stations, check-in points, landscape improvements, and environmental sanitation.
Personnel responsible for security, public order, traffic safety, medical services, and other athlete support are also being deployed and are ready to meet the requirements of the event.
The Organising Committee is encouraging local residents to participate in cultural and artistic activities and cheer on the runners, creating a lively atmosphere along the route. These activities will help promote physical exercise and sports among the community while providing athletes and visitors with additional experiences during their stay in Son La.
The organisation of the race will contribute to a series of community sporting activities, connecting sports with the promotion of local coffee products, cultural identity, and tourism potential. It will also help showcase Son La as a friendly and welcoming destination to visitors from within and beyond the province.
