Attending the opening ceremony were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Pham Hai Anh, member of the Women's Football Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation; representatives of provincial departments and agencies; and a large number of spectators.
This year's tournament features 100 players of four teams namely Phong Phu Ha Nam, Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, and host Son La.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chien expressed sincere thanks to the Vietnam Football Federation for its continued support and confidence in selecting Son La as the host province. He also expressed confidence that under the close direction of the Vietnam Football Federation, the responsible coordination of relevant agencies and units, the fair and impartial monitoring of the referees, and the spirit of fair play, unity, and determination demonstrated by the participating teams, the 2026 National U16 Women's Football Championship would be a great success, delivering exciting, high-quality, and memorable matches for football fans.
According to the competition schedule, the tournament will be played in a double round-robin format at a centralised venue, with final standings determined by points. The champion will receive the trophy and a cash prize of 100 million VND. Additional awards will also be presented, including runner-up, third place, Fair Play Award, Best Player, Top Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.
The 2026 National U16 Women's Football Championship will be held in two phases: the first leg from July 19 to July 28, and the second from August 1 to August 9, at 3/2 Stadium, the provincial Culture and Sports Centre, To Hieu ward, Son La province. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the opening match between U16 Son La and U16 Hanoi took place.
