The event was attended by Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, along with members of the Son La provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and leaders of the Son La provincial People’s Committee, as well as representatives of relevant departments and agencies from both provinces.
During the 2022-2026 period, the friendship between Son La and Xaysomboun provinces continued to be maintained, strengthened and developed. The two provinces proactively and flexibly implemented the provisions of their signed cooperation agreement, achieving tangible results, particularly in human resource training, healthcare, maintaining security and public order, and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
Welcoming the Houaphanh delegation, Nghiem expressed his pleasure at receiving the delegation for its visit, working programme and signing of the 2026-2029 cooperation agreement with Son La.
He stressed that the occasion provided an important opportunity for both sides to review achievements, frankly discuss issues of mutual concern and agree on cooperation priorities suited to their respective conditions and strengths.
Son La hopes that the two provinces will continue to preserve and promote their friendship, solidarity and mutual trust, while expanding practical and effective cooperation in areas where both sides have significant potential and strengths, he said.
The Secretary of the Xaysomboun provincial Party Committee thanked Son La’s leaders for their warm and thoughtful reception, and spoke highly of the province’s support and cooperation across various fields in recent years.
He also expressed his hope that Son La would continue to strengthen cooperation with Xaysomboun in various areas, particularly in human resource training, the development of agricultural models, and the organisation of cultural and artistic exchange activities. He called for favourable conditions to be created for delegations from both provinces to visit each other and exchange experience in state management of culture, sports and tourism.
These efforts are expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of both localities and further strengthen the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam.
At the talks, the two provinces discussed, reached consensus on and signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026-2029 period.
