Delegates and Lao students recalled the special solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the struggle for national independence and construction; as well as special relations between Vietnam and Laos in general, and Son La and northern Lao provinces in particular.

In recent years, on the basis of signed cooperation documents, Son La province and northern Lao provinces have regularly popolarised the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and between Son La and northern Lao provinces among officials, soldiers and people. The two sides have supported and helped each other in socio-economic development, education and training, protection and building a border of peace and friendship.

Since 2001, Son La College has provided training of Vietnamese language and majors to more than 3,300 students from northern Lao provinces. During the training process, the school has supported Lao students in terms of accommodation at the dormitory, tuition, electricity and water bill payment, and health insurance.

In addition, the school has also created favourable conditions for them to participate in cultural, art, and sports activities. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the school plans to receive about 300 Lao students for training of Vietnamese language and majors.
