Son La College welcomes 397 Lao students for new academic year

Son La College on October 28 held a welcoming ceremony for a working delegation from nine Lao provinces who brought Lao students to enroll at the college.

Attending the event were Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of several provincial departments and agencies; representatives from the nine Lao provinces; and 397 Lao students.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, Son La College will provide Vietnamese language training for 397 students and trainees from nine Lao provinces. Among them, 128 trainees are officials from various departments, agencies, and armed forces who will study Vietnamese for nine months; 40 will take Vietnamese language courses before beginning their Intermediate Political Theory program; and 229 will attend preparatory Vietnamese classes before enrolling in specialised programmes at colleges and universities across Son La province.

In addition to the formal curriculum, Son La College will organise cultural, artistic, physical training, and sports activities for the Lao students and trainees. The college will also arrange visits and study tours to historical sites and scenic destinations in Son La province and other parts of Vietnam, helping them gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and people while improving their Vietnamese language skills.

Speaking at the event, Chien requested that relevant provincial departments and agencies continue to review resources and policies to enhance cooperation in training Lao students. He also tasked Son La College with ensuring the best possible learning and living conditions for the Lao students, prioritising training quality to strengthen the institution’s reputation and the educational cooperation between Son La province and the northern provinces of Laos.

Colleges and universities in Son La province receive the certificates of merit from Laos’ Bokeo province.

On this occasion, the Lao provinces of Bokeo, Phongsaly, and Luang Namtha presented their certificates of merit to Tay Bac (Northwestern) University, Son La College, and Son La Medical College in recognition of their significant contributions to training and improving the quality of human resources for Laos’ northern provinces.
