Son La, Houaphanh exchange experience in judicial work, civil judgment enforcement

A delegation from the Department of Justice of Laos’ Houaphanh province led by its Director Phuhuon Phomavan on March 25 visited Son La province to exchange experience in judicial work and civil judgment enforcement with their local counterparts.

At the meeting, leaders of the units discussed the functions, tasks, organisational structure and staff of their respective provincial Department of Justice and the Civil Judgment Enforcement Division. They shared experience in drafting legal documents, regulations and forms of legal dissemination and education, and notary activities in the judicial field, as well as the enforcement of the civil part of criminal judgments, the enforcement of court judgments and decisions, and funding for the enforcement of court judgments.

The leaders of the units agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in information exchange in the field of justice and civil judgment enforcement. Accordingly, the two departments will continue legal dissemination and education to raise awareness of law enforcement for people living along the shared border of the two countries.

They pledged to effectively manage civil status and household registration; create conditions for the two sides’ Civil Judgment Enforcement Divisions to support each other in civil judgment enforcement; and create favourable conditions for district-level judicial agencies in border areas to meet and exchange experience in accordance with the specific conditions of the two sides.
