Aquatic output exceeds 9,200 tonnes

Son La province has 2,964 hectares of aquaculture areas in the reservoir zones of hydropower plants. In 2025, total aquatic output reached over 9,200 tonnes, including nearly 7,800 tonnes from aquaculture and more than 1,400 tonnes from catching.

Farmers in Muong Gion commune raise fish in cages on the Son La hydropower reservoir.

Relevant departments, sectors and local authorities have continued to guide farmers in applying technical advances to production and developing farming models suited to the conditions of each area, while strengthening quality control of seed, water sources, feed and ecological environmental safety.

Efforts have also been made to promote sustainable aquaculture development, enhance climate change adaptation, and encourage cooperatives and household businesses to build and increase the value of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, thereby helping to stabilise local incomes.
