A working delegation from Dien Bien province led by Le Van Luong, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, on January 27 met with leaders of Son La province to discuss the investment plan for the CT.03 Expressway (Moc Chau - Son La - Dien Bien) project.

Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, inspected preparations for the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in To Hieu and Chieng Coi wards on January 27.

In 2025, Son La province has strengthened state management over mineral resources, focusing on advising and organising auctions, issuing exploration and mining licenses in accordance with the planning, contributing to the efficient use of resources and increasing budget revenue.

Nam Lau is a commune with many advantages for agricultural development, and coffee is identified as the key crop that helps lift people out of poverty.

Currently, Chieng Hac commune has more than 3,200 hectares of fruit trees, with an estimated production of 25,837 tonnes. In 2025, the value of fruit sales was estimated at around 182.69 billion VND (7 million USD).

Previously, bamboo shoot production in Tan Xuan commune was fragmented, and people mainly harvested wild bamboo shoots. In May 2020, with funding from the Australian Government, the Centre for Rural Economic Development supported a project on empowering ethnic minority women through the development of a clean bamboo shoot value chain.

Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam), in coordination with the Son La provincial People’s Committee, on January 26 held an inauguration ceremony for STEM practice rooms at Son La High School for the Gifted, Thuan Chau High School, and Chu Van An Secondary School (Song Ma commune).

In 2025, Muong Lam commune was among the localities in Son La province most severely affected by natural disasters, with total damage exceeding 80 billion VND (3.05 million USD).

Since the implementation of the two-level local government model, the Public Administration Service Centre of Tan Yen commune has strengthened the application of information technology in management, publicly posted administrative procedures, fees and charges, and equipped itself with computers, printers, scanners, and photocopiers, creating favourable conditions for organisations and individuals in carrying out administrative procedures.

Since the implementation of the two-level local government model, Chieng Sung commune has mobilised social resources to install 296 solar-powered street lights along Provincial Road 110 in the commune centre and on internal roads in Yen Binh, Chieng Den, Tram Cau, Tan Lap, Phuong, Sai Luong, and Phat Nam hamlets.

Currently, Muong Chien commune has more than 22,400 hectares of forest land, including over 22,200 hectares of natural forest and nearly 180 hectares of planted forest that has matured.

Bo Xanh hamlet, Muong Gion commune, is home to 212 households with nearly 1,000 residents, the majority of whom are Black Thai people. The Black Thai community has preserved many distinctive cultural features, such as women continuing to wear traditional costumes and practicing the traditional hair-bunning ritual after marriage.
