Green coffee output in Son La estimated at over 35,360 tonnes

Son La province is projected to produce more than 35,360 tonnes of green coffee this year.

Son La province currently has over 20,860 hectares of coffee, with 27,760 hectares ready for harvest, mainly in Mai Son, Thuan Chau, Song Ma, Sop Cop, Quynh Nhai, and Yen Chau districts, and Son La city.

This year, unfavorable weather conditions have resulted in decreased yields and overall production. However, selling prices have increased compared to the previous season. Since the start of the harvest, businesses and traders have been purchasing fresh coffee cherries at prices ranging from 16,000-18,000 VND (0.63-0.71 USD) per kilogram.

It is forecast that the prices of fresh coffee cherries will continue to rise, especially for those with a ripeness ratio of 90% or higher, which are essential for producing specialty, high-quality coffee.
