Attending the event were Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thai Hung, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front; among others.
Before the programme began, the provincial People's Committee announced a decision to reward individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the special emulation drive leading up to the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of All-People Defence Festival. The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee awarded the certificates of merit to four collectives and four individuals for their excellent contributions during the drive.
The art programme saw the participation of artists from the Son La Song and Dance Theater, soldiers from the provincial Military Command, students from the Faculty of Arts at Son La College, and amateur performers from Son La city.
The programme featured carefully choreographed dance-singing performances, combined with commentary, illustrations, sound, and light effects that vividly reflected the 80-year construction, development, and combat journey of the VPA and its victories under the leadership of the Party and beloved President Ho Chi Minh. It also honoured the great contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the elder brother of the Vietnam People's Army; praised the heroic spirit of the Uncle Ho’s Soldiers and the fighting spirit of the armed forces and people of the ethnic groups in Son La; and strengthened the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
The event offered an occasion to review the glorious history of the Vietnam People's Army, express gratitude to the generations of military personnel who contributed their blood and bones to protect and build the country.
