The diplomat and his encourage were received by Hoang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and representatives of some departments and agencies.

At the reception, Khanh briefed the ambassador on outstanding achievements Son La has recorded in politics, socio-economic development, and national defence-security, and expressed his wish that the visit will reap good outcomes.

Son La boasts substantial potential, especially in economy and tourism, he said, suggesting the ambassador further explore the land and people of Son La, and roll out cooperation and investment programmes in the time ahead.

For his part, Goledzinowski thanked the provincial leaders for their warm welcome, and noted his wish to learn more about the province and work as a bridge for investment cooperation between Australia and Son La, particularly in agriculture, tourism and mining, thus contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Australia friendship and cooperation.

While in Son La, the Australian delegation will make field trips to a nickel mine in Phuc hamlet, and Ta Khoa nickel processing plant in Bac Yen district./.
