Construction of inter-level boarding schools in border communes accelerated

Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of the Steering Committee for the construction of inter-level boarding schools, on January 26 chaired a meeting to accelerate the investment and construction of primary-secondary boarding schools in border communes.

Attending the meeting were Ha Trung Chien, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; along with contractors and consulting units implementing the projects. The meeting was held online and connected to project sites in the communes.

As of June 22, 12 out of 13 communes had issued land recovery notices. All 13 projects are completing detailed construction design dossiers following the basic design for submission to the Department of Construction for appraisal, with appraisal results already available for site leveling items.

Six out of 13 projects have approved detailed construction designs after the basic design for site leveling, including the communes of Chieng Son, Yen Son, Long Phieng, Sop Cop, Muong Lan, and Phieng Khoai.

Investors have completed design dossiers for the site leveling items, and one dossier for the Long Sap school site has been submitted for appraisal with most of the main items basically complete.

Regarding the approval of contractor selection plans and the appointment of consulting contractors for survey and detailed design after the basic design, all 13 projects have been completed to date. Of these, three projects are invested by the provincial Department of Public Security; three by the provincial Military Command; two by the Civil, Industrial and Urban Development Project Management Board; and five by the Project Management Board for Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment. To date, more than 508 billion VND (19.4 million USD) has been disbursed.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee requested that investors and design consulting units urgently complete the design dossiers for the remaining project items and submit them to the Department of Construction for appraisal and approval in accordance with regulations.

He also asked the communes to coordinate with the provincial Land Fund Development Centre to complete compensation payments before February 5, 2026; and to immediately establish working teams to carry out tasks related to project implementation, from construction to completion and operation.

The Department of Construction was requested to complete appraisals before February 5, 2026. Design units, construction contractors, and investors were urged to proactively coordinate and support one another to ensure effective project implementation.

Chairman Viet emphasised that this is a particularly important political task. The Steering Committee will hold weekly meetings to closely monitor progress, promptly address arising difficulties, and ensure the project schedule.
