Great unity festival held in Gia Phu commune

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Vi Duc Tho attended the great unity festival in Phieng Luong hamlet, Gia Phu commune, on November 9.

Phieng Luong hamlet has 144 households with 653 residents, all from the Dao ethnic group. The hamlet’s Party Committee and Fatherland Front Board have promoted unity, driven economic development, prioritised education, and preserved ethnic cultural heritage. In 2025, residents contributed over 18 million VND (684 USD) to the funds for individuals who rendered service to the nation, disadvantaged children, and the poor, and disaster relief. Seven households donated 300 sq.m of land for roads and power poles. About 70% of local roads were concreted with proper drainage, the poverty rate fell to 1.3%, and over 65% of households were recognised as exemplary cultural families.

Speaking at the festival, Tho urged the Party Committee and the Fatherland Front Board of Phieng Luong hamlet to continue encouraging residents to follow the Party’s directives, State policies and laws, and local regulations.

He called for intensified study and practice of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle; and active participation in movements on rural area building and the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing.

Local residents were also asked to restructure crops and livestock to improve people’s material and spiritual lives.
