Innovation and Startup Day held at Tay Bac University

Tay Bac (Northwest) University, in collaboration with the Centre for Promotion of Startups and Investment Attraction in Ethnic Minority Areas, on July 12 organised the Innovation and Startup Day.

The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong; representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology; leaders of provincial departments and sectors; local enterprises, cooperatives, and young entrepreneurs, along with more than 500 students from Tay Bac University.

As part of the programme, a tourism forum titled “Synergising Digital Transformation in Son La Tourism” was held with the participation of leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tay Bac University, and representatives from notable tourism service businesses in the province. Delegates discussed and shared insights on topics surrounding tourism digital transformation, including state management issues, supporting mechanisms and policies, key priorities in digital promotion and marketing, product consumption, lessons from applying digital transformation in small and medium enterprises, and the importance of training and capacity building to support business operations.

An agricultural forum titled “Application of Science and Technology in Sustainable Agricultural Development” brought together representatives from enterprises, banks, cooperatives, and young startup founders who shared inspiring stories about applying science and technology in sustainable agriculture. Participants also discussed challenges in agricultural startups, such as investment capital, strategic direction, and market access. Additionally, they exchanged startup experiences and expressed their dedication to bringing Son La's agricultural products to domestic and international markets. Key topics included the integration of scientific and technological advancements into agriculture and the development of processed products to increase agricultural value.

The day also featured the signing of an agreement on cooperation and technology transfer between the Centre for Promotion of Startups and Investment Attraction in Ethnic Minority Areas and startup cooperatives. At the same time, the Son La Startup Mentor Network was officially launched, comprising 27 experienced advisors who will act as connectors, guides, and companions, providing knowledge, experience, and orientations for potential local startups.

Speaking at the event, Cong emphasised that in the context of the country’s dynamic transformation, the restructuring of local government systems, and preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, young people must play a pioneering role in innovation and startup.

He urged Tay Bac University to continue to promote the guiding role of its faculty members and actively organise activities that encourage student creativity and entrepreneurship. He also encouraged the university to proactively collaborate with organisations, businesses, and exemplary cooperatives to share experience and knowledge with students. He expressed his hope that students would harness their youthful passion and creativity, strive for academic excellence, and leverage their strengths to contribute to the development of their homeland.
