International Day of Yoga to be held in Son La province

Trang Thi Xuan, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee, on June 9 chaired a meeting to implement the plan for co-hosting the Indian Film Festival and International Day of Yoga in Son La province. The meeting was attended by leaders of several provincial departments and agencies.

At the meeting.

The Indian Film Festival is scheduled to take place from June 13 to 15 at the provincial Cultural and Cinema Centre, featuring free screenings of four acclaimed Indian films: “RRR,” “Zindagi na Milegi Dobara,” “English Vinglish,” and “Dangal.” Each film showcases unique aspects of Indian cinema, ranging from epic action to touching stories of family and friendship. All films will be screened with Vietnamese subtitles.

The International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on June 14 at Khan Pieu (Pieu Scarf) Square, located in the Moc Chau Island Tourist Area in Moc Chau township. The programme will include a lamp-lighting ceremony, a mass yoga performance following the Common Yoga Protocol, and Flow Yoga demonstrations by local yoga clubs.

Speaking at the meeting, Xuan emphasised that these are important diplomatic and cultural exchange events, enhancing ties between Son La province and India, while also promoting the beauty, culture, and people of Son La to the Indian Embassy. The events are expected to boost local tourism.

She requested relevant departments to thoroughly prepare the necessary conditions for the film screenings, strengthen communication efforts, and schedule screening times conveniently for local residents. She also stressed the importance of developing plans to ensure public security, traffic safety, and fire prevention and control before, during, and after the events, especially at the main venues, and to ensure the safety of the international delegations visiting the province.
