Journalists, artists, intellectuals, scientists hailed for contributions to Son La’s development

The Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee on January 18 held a meeting with representatives of press agencies, and outstanding writers, artists, intellectuals and scientists in Son La, and honoured winners of the 2023 Bua Liem Vang (Golden Hammer and Sickle), a press award on Party building.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh briefed the participants on marked achievements in politics, socio-economic development, culture, and national defence and security the province recorded last year. He lauded outcomes in the communications work of the provincial journalists’ association, local and central press agencies based in the locality, as well as writers and artists.

The official urged the journalists, writers, artists, intellectuals and scientists to work harder to outstandingly perform their tasks, improve the quality of scientific research, and effectively apply scientific-technological advances in both daily life and production. They were also asked to optimise science-technology, and equip themselves with knowledge about digital transformation to meet requirements in the new situation.

Leaders of the press agencies, and other delegates appreciated the support of the Standing Board of the Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province, and departments and agencies over the past time, and proposed solutions to raise the efficiency of the communications work in the years to come.

On this occasion, the organisers of the 8th Bua Liem Vang Award reviewed activities in 2023, and launched its 9th edition. Last year, there were 54 eligible works of five categories, including 11 in the category of print newspaper, 14 in e-newspaper, nine in photo, nine in radio and 11 in television.

Collectives and individuals receive the People’s Committee’s certificates of merit./.
