Torrential rains over July 26–27 triggered flash floods and landslides in Chieng So, inundating homes and disrupting traffic. Preliminary reports showed 32 households with 110 residents were affected by the severe weather.

The Military Region 2 Command provides support to flood-hit residents in Chieng So.
The delegation visited and encouraged families affected by the floods, while directing more than 450 officers and soldiers from Regiment 754, the Command of Military Zone 2’s Song Ma defensive area, the Border Guard Command, and local militia forces to intensify efforts in assisting residents. The support focused on repairing damaged homes, clearing debris and mud, and helping households return to normal life as quickly as possible.

After inspecting flood damage and meeting with affected residents in Chieng So, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh instructed local authorities to continue relocating people and property to safer areas and to complete damage assessments.
He also emphasised the need for close monitoring of weather developments, timely public warnings, and swift material support to help residents stabilise both their lives and mental well-being.

Sharing with residents in the flood-hit area, the working delegation delivered 5 tonnes of rice, 1 tonne of dried food, and various essential supplies such as instant noodles, medicine, cooking oil, and drinking water. This meaningful and timely support served to encourage and uplift the spirits of flood-affected people in Chieng So commune.
