Online law quiz on grassroots democracy launched

The provincial steering committee on implementing democracy at the grassroots level on June 3 launched an online contest aiming to raise public awareness of laws on grassroots democracy.

The launching ceremony was attended by Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial steering committee on implementing grassroots democracy; Luu Minh Quan, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, and head of its Mass Mobilisation Board, and head of the contest organising committee; Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; and members of the steering committee, and the contest organising committee.

The launching ceremony was connected to sites in 12 districts and Son La city, and communes, wards and towns in the province, and broadcast live on the provincial radio and television channels.

The contest, in the form of multiple-choice questions, is held weekly on the provincial portal, https://sonla.gov.vn, or its website at https://thitructuyendanchuocoso.sonla.gov.vn.

It will last for four weeks, each from Monday to Sunday. Specifically, the first week of the contest will run from 9:00 a.m. on June 3 to 10:00 p.m. on June 9; the second from 00:00 on June 10 to 10:00 p.m. on June 16; the third from 00:00 on June 17 to 10:00 p.m. on June 23; and the last from 00:00 on June 24 to 10:00 p.m. on June 30. A closing and award ceremony is slated for July 16.

The contest features legal regulations on implementing democracy at the grassroots level, including the 2022 Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level; the Government’s Decree No. 59/2023/ND-CP dated August 14, 2023 detailing a number of articles of the Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level; and the Government’s Decree No. 61/2023/ND-CP dated August 16, 2023 on building and implementing conventions of villages and rules of residential areas.
