Pa Khom rural bridge inaugurated

The provincial Youth Union, in collaboration with sponsoring units and the People's Committee of Muong Lan commune, Sop Cop district, on March 22 organised a ceremony to inaugurate Pa Khom rural bridge in the commune’s Pa Kach hamlet.

The event was attended by representatives from the Youth Union of the Party Central Committee’s Office, Sop Cop district, and the charitable organisation "He sinh thai nuoi em” (Ecosystem for Raising Children).

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the bridge.

Pa Khom area of Pa Kach hamlet is home to 34 households. For many years, the travel of local people and students encountered difficulties, as they had to cross the Tin Toc stream, especially during the rainy season when the water level rose and the current became strong, posing a danger to those crossing and sometimes isolating the area for days.

To solve this, the provincial Youth Union, in coordination with sponsoring organisations and the People's Committee of Muong Lan commune, conducted a survey of the location and prepared a budget estimate for building a bridge across the stream.

The bridge is put into use.

Construction on the bridge began in August 2024 and was completed by the end of last year. The bridge is designed to be 2.5 meters high, 36 meters long, and 1.4 meters wide. The total investment amounted to 370 million VND (14,450 USD), funded by the youth unions of the Party Central Committee’s Office, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vietnam Television (VTV), the Department of Internal Political Security under the Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, the Vietnam Development Bank’s Son La branch, and the charitable organisation "Ecosystem for Raising Children."

Delegates cross the bridge.

The bridge meets the travel needs of local people.

This project holds significant practical value as it aims to share the difficulties faced by local authorities and the community. It meets the travel needs of local people, making it easier for children to attend school. At the same time, it demonstrates the volunteer spirit for the community.
