Following Conclusion No. 81 of the Politburo, Son La has 13 inter-level primary and secondary schools in border communes that have had their construction commenced. In Chieng Khuong commune, there are over 3,800 primary and secondary school students, most of whom have boarding needs. Currently, the commune has planned to arrange a land fund of about 5 hectares to accommodate about 1,000 students. Chieng Khuong strives to start construction in October 2025.

After the inspection, Viet requested the commune to pay special attention to the school construction site to ensure safety; develop the planning associated with important infrastructure such as medical stations, police stations and other welfare facilities. He urged reserving land funds to arrange for the formation of a new urban area, prioritising social housing for officials, civil servants and workers, thereby developing a prosperous border urban area.
