Provincial chairman pays working visit to Indian embassy

A delegation from Son La province led by Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of the provincial Delegation to the National Assembly, had a working session in Hanoi on April 11 with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam. The delegation was received by Ambassador of India to Vietnam Sandeep Arya.

Welcoming the Son La delegation to the embassy, Sandeep Arya said following his recent visit in March to agricultural and tourism models in Moc Chau township, he appreciated the socio-economic and tourism development potential of Son La province. He expressed interest in further exploring opportunities and strengthening relationships, serving as a bridge for investment cooperation in Son La, especially in agriculture, agricultural exports, and tourism. The ambassador proposed that Son La collaborate in organising a celebration of the International Day of Yoga in Moc Chau and an Indian film festival in the province.

On behalf of the Son La delegation, Viet expressed sincere thanks to the ambassador for his warm and respectful reception. He said Son La agrees with the proposals made by the Indian Embassy regarding the organisation of the Indian Film Festival in the province and the celebration of the International Day of Yoga in Moc Chau township. He suggested that the International Day of Yoga celebration be held at Khan Pieu Square in the Moc Chau Island Tourist Site in Muong Sang ward, Moc Chau. For the Indian Film Festival, screenings are expected to take place at the provincial Centre for Culture and Cinema.

The Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee expressed his hope that in the near future, the Indian embassy will support the province in promoting media coverage, tourism marketing, and the introduction of tourist destinations, products, and cultural-tourism events between Son La and localities in India. He also noted interest in cooperation on digital transformation in tourism, developing tourism products, and training human resources. Son La wishes to learn from India’s experience in tourism management and development, he said.

In addition, the provincial leader suggested organising surveys and using footage of the Moc Chau National Tourism Area and other destinations in Son La province in Indian films. He also proposed exploring the implementation of policies to promote and support English language teaching in schools across the province.
