Provincial chairman surveys school construction sites in border communes

Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of the provincial Delegation to the National Assembly Nguyen Dinh Viet on July 30 surveyed the proposed construction sites for combined primary and secondary boarding schools in the border communes of Muong Leo, Muong Lan and Sop Cop.

In accordance with the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025 regarding the policy on investing in school construction for border communes, Son La province has established survey teams to assess potential locations.

According to reports, Muong Leo commune currently has 838 primary and secondary students, including 538 boarding students; Muong Lan is home to 2,716 students, with over 1,000 under boarding programmes; and Sop Cop commune has 1,268 boarding students at the primary and secondary levels.

After the field inspection, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee directed departments and agencies to work closely with local authorities to quickly finalise documentation and specific investment plans. Emphasis should be placed on selecting locations with suitable terrain and transportation access, ensuring convenience for construction and long-term operation.

In addition, the scale of schools and their supporting facilities must be carefully considered to meet the conditions for both boarding and semi-boarding education, thereby contributing to improving educational quality and training a workforce of ethnic minorities and local residents, he said.
