Provincial leaders meet with Son La Officials Liaison Committee in Hanoi

The provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on January 13 held a meeting with the Son La Officials Liaison Committee in Hanoi on the occasion the Lunar New Year 2024.

Attending the meeting were Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies; Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Hoang Quoc Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; former members of the Party Central Committee and former Secretaries of the provincial Party Committee in different periods; an members of the Son La Officials Liaison Committee in Hanoi.

At the meeting, delegates heard reports on the province’s outstanding results in all fields in 2023, with a positive gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth and the economic structure shifting in a positive direction in line with the province's development goals. Budget revenue reached more than 4.29 trillion VND (175 million USD), equivalent to 101% of the estimate assigned by the Government. Agro-forestry-fishery production continued to develop, becoming an important pillar in the province's economic structure. The total area of fruit and Son tra (hawthorn) trees reached 84,160 hectares, with an annual output of over 455,000 tonnes, an increase of 25.6% year-on-year.

Commercial and service activities were promoted, with the export value estimated at 186.8 million USD. The socio-cultural and tourism activities saw many positive results. Son La welcomed 4.5 million visitors in 2023, up 41% from the previous year, with estimated revenue of 4.7 trillion VND, up 58.2% year-on-year. The Moc Chau National Tourist Area was honoured as Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination 2023 and the World’s Leading Regional Nature Destination 2023 for the second time.

The political-security situation, social order and safety were kept stable, while border security and sovereignty were maintained. The work of building the Party and consolidating the political system was strengthened; while cooperation with international organisations and foreign embassies and especially friendship with Lao provinces were strengthened.

A representative of the Son La Officials Liaison Committee in Hanoi briefed the provincial leaders on its activities in 2023 and congratulated the province on its all-round achievements, expressing a hope that Son La province will continue to maintain and promote the tradition of solidarity and unity, innovation, and creativity to successfully fulfill the goals and tasks in 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Dong informed the participants about the major policies and orientations of Son La province in 2024. He hoped that members of the Son La Officials Liaison Committee will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and join the province’s efforts to successfully complete the tasks in 2024, for the green, rapid and sustainable development of Son La province as set out in the Resolution of the 15th provincial Party Congress.
