Provincial Military Command chief inspects trial operations of two-level local government model in Sop Cop district

Colonel Chu Van Thanh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Commander of the provincial Military Command, on June 25 led a working delegation to inspect the trial operation of the two-level local government model in Sop Cop and Pung Banh communes, Sop Cop district.

Colonel Chu Van Thanh and the working delegation inspect administrative procedure processing under the two-level local government model in Sop Cop commune.

Implementing the two-level local government model, Sop Cop district has reduced its administrative units from eight communes to four, including Sop Cop, Muong Lan, Pung Banh, and Muong Leo. To ensure the smooth operation of the model from July 1, the district has deployed trial operations of commune-level government bodies from June 24 to June 28.

At each inspection site, the delegation reviewed infrastructure, office arrangements, and the setup of functional units. They also assessed the operation of Public Administration Centres in Sop Cop and Pung Banh communes and evaluated how administrative procedures are handled under the new model.

Colonel Chu Van Thanh commended the proactive approach and sense of responsibility demonstrated by Sop Cop district’s leadership, commune-level Party Committees, and public officials in preparing for the transition to the new local government model. He urged communes to focus on reviewing and finalising infrastructure to ensure a favourable working environment for local authorities post-merger.

During operations, he emphasised that any challenges or obstacles encountered should be reported directly to the responsible agencies to avoid disruptions. This will ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the new two-level government model, he said.
