Provincial Military Commander attends Great National Unity Festival in Muong Leo

Colonel Chu Van Thanh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Commander of the provincial Military Command, attended the Great National Unity Festival in Mat hamlet, Muong Leo commune, on November 14.

At the festival, delegates and local residents reviewed the 95-year tradition of the Vietnam National United Front (November 18, 1930 – 2025) and the results of the 2025 “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas” campaign.

Mat is a border hamlet, more than 200 km from the political-administrative centre of Son La province. The hamlet currently has 114 households with more than 500 residents, consisting of two ethnic groups, Thai and Mong, living together. Local people consistently comply with the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws, and local regulations, while uniting and striving to develop the economy and apply technical advances to production.

Up to 96% of households have been recognised as “cultured families,” and 100% of the population has access to television and radio.  Since 2020, they have contributed over 134 million VND (5,080 USD), and donated more than 3,000 sq.m of land and 300 workdays to build the community cultural house, and renovate internal roads.

Sharing the joy with local residents, Colonel Thanh praised the efforts of the hamlet’s Party cell, management board, front work board, organisations, and people over the past years. He also expressed his hope that Mat hamlet will continue promoting its traditions, strengthening the great national unity bloc, advancing community self-governance movements, actively participating in maintaining security and order, preventing and reducing social evils, and enthusiastically joining patriotic emulation campaigns to build a wealthier, more beautiful, and more civilised hamlet.

On this occasion, Colonel Thanh presented gifts from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee to Mat hamlet; and the Fatherland Front Committee of Muong Leo commune awarded the certificate of merit to the hamlet’s front work board.
