Provincial Party Committee meets with media agencies, outstanding artists, intellectuals and scientists

The Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee on January 27 held a meeting with press agencies, and outstanding artists, intellectuals and scientists in the province on the occasion of the New Year 2026, combined with the presentation of the provincial Press Awards on Party Building 2025.

Attending the meeting were Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, among others.

In 2025, local press agencies and central press agencies based in the province strictly complied with legal regulations and operated in line with their assigned mandates and purposes. They closely followed the leadership, direction and information orientation of the province, renewed working methods, improved the quality of news and programmes, and promoted the application of modern technologies in journalistic activities. Timely coverage was provided on political, economic, cultural, social and defence-security affairs, as well as Party building and political system consolidation, meeting assigned political requirements.

Local artists created cultural products of high ideological and artistic values, closely aligned with practical realities, reflecting comprehensively the province’s development during the period of renewal, integration and growth, while promoting traditional values, cultural identity and the image of the local people.

Meanwhile, local intellectuals and scientists made important contributions to policy formulation, scientific research and innovation; effectively carried out consultancy and social criticism activities; and served as the core force in scientific and technological research in support of socio-economic development.

Representatives of the Journalists’ Association, press agencies, artists, intellectuals and scientists expressed their appreciation for the support and facilitation provided by the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels. They also proposed solutions to improve communication effectiveness, including enhancing the quality of artistic activities, promoting literary works in the digital space, developing a professional and innovative journalism workforce, accelerating digital transformation in the press sector, and implementing commissioning mechanisms for literary and artistic works associated with promoting Son La’s image. ​

In his remarks, Secretary Nghiem acknowledged and commended the contributions of press agencies, artists, intellectuals and scientists. He emphasised that 2026 is a year of special significance, marked by major political events of both national and provincial importance. He called on press agencies to adhere closely to their mandates, intensify communication to bring Party resolutions into life, highlight exemplary models and good deeds, and actively counter distorted and hostile viewpoints, thereby contributing to strengthening the Party’s ideological foundation and promoting patriotic emulation movements.

He also urged intellectuals and scientists to proactively propose highly applicable research topics focusing on key and urgent areas serving sustainable socio-economic development, while encouraging artists to continue drawing inspiration from real life to create works of strong ideological and artistic values that foster patriotism, national pride and aspirations for a prosperous and happy country.

A total of 24 works were selected for awards, including four A, five B, five C and 10 consolation prizes.

The Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee presents certificates of merit to first prize winners.

In recognition of these achievements, the provincial People’s Committee awarded the certificates of merit to the authors and groups of authors who won the A Prizes at the Press Awards on Party Building 2025.
