Provincial Party leader visits Son La newspaper

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the province’s delegation of National Assembly deputies Nguyen Huu Dong paid a working visit to Son La newspaper on December 29.

At the meeting with the secretary, leaders of Son La newspaper reported him on the results of its activities and preparations for the newspaper’s 60th founding anniversary (January 3, 1964-2024). Through each historical period, the newspaper staff members have become increasingly mature, with strong political mettle, good morality and professional expertise, continuous self-learning and innovation, successfully completing their assigned tasks.

In October 2023, Son La e-newspaper’s new interface and its specialised pages in English, Thai and Mong ethnic languages were launched. Modern technology; diverse columns such as News-politics, Foreign Affair, Business, Society, Culture-Tourism, Press Highlights, Voters’ Forum, and Local News; and new forms like Video, E-magazine-Infographic and Radio have created a breakthrough and highlight of Son La e-newspaper. With information updated around the clock, and political and current events reflected adequately, quickly, accurately, and attractively, the e-newspaper has been attracting a large number of readers. The printed version has its pages 1 and 8 printed in four colours, with over 6,300 copies per issue.

Speaking at the meeting, the provincial Party leader praised and acknowledged the achievements of Son La newspaper in recent times. He asked the newspaper to continue promoting the 60-year tradition of formation and development and the spirit of solidarity; step up the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle; well implement the principle of democratic centralism and successfully complete assigned political tasks.

Attention should be paid to improving professional qualifications, skills, and ethical qualities of staff, reporters, technicians, and editors; closely following local political tasks for timely and effective dissemination; and reflecting good models, new and creative ways of doing things, he noted.

The leader also requested the newspaper to increase the combat strength of a Party newspaper, and report objectively and multi-dimensionally to contribute to orienting public opinion; promote the advantages of the e-newspaper to ensure the fast and accurate delivery of information to, together with the local Party committees, authorities and people of all ethnic groups in the province, successfully fulfil the goal of promoting the green, and fast and sustainable development of Son La province.
