The event was co-chaired by Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital.
At the conference, Vice Chairman Chien highlighted key tasks and achievements in the local healthcare sector in recent years. The province has focused on implementing Politburo Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on breakthrough solutions to enhance public health protection, care, and improvement; prioritising high-quality human resource training; reorganising and strengthening grassroots healthcare, especially preventive medicine following the implementation of the two-tier local government model; and investing in healthcare infrastructure, including upgrading the provincial General Hospital into a regional-level facility.
He expressed hope that through the conference and the signing of the agreement, Bach Mai Hospital and leading medical experts would collaborate, provide support, and contribute to comprehensive development, helping build a modern and efficient local healthcare system that enables residents to access high-quality medical services right at the grassroots level.
Assoc. Prof., Dr. Dao Xuan Co emphasised that the comprehensive cooperation agreement would open up new development directions for Son La’s healthcare sector, not only in treatment but also in long-term strategic areas, gradually building modern healthcare models suited to the province’s conditions and development potential.
Key priorities include supporting training, capacity building, and the development of high-quality healthcare human resources; enhancing technology transfer; providing professional support; and developing specialised medical fields, he said.
The cooperation aims to reduce unnecessary patient referrals, lower costs, save time, and ease the burden on patients. It will also help local healthcare staff improve their professional expertise, confidence, and management capacity in an increasingly professional working environment, he added.
At the conference, the province presented a visual report on the current state of its healthcare sector and development orientations for the 2026–2031 period. Bach Mai Hospital also introduced its advanced medical techniques, modern equipment, and digital transformation initiatives in medical examination and treatment.
Participants discussed issues related to human resources, medical equipment, and advanced techniques in specialties such as oncology, emergency and critical care, stroke, cardiology, radiology, and gastroenterology.
The conference also announced Decision No. 2511/QĐ-BM issued by the Director of Bach Mai Hospital on establishing a steering committee and a task force to implement staff rotation under the hospital’s 4.0 model in Son La province, covering eight specialties: emergency and critical care, stroke, cardiology, radiology, tropical medicine, pediatrics, dermatology and burns, and nuclear medicine and oncology.
Leaders of the provincial People’s Committee and Bach Mai Hospital signed the comprehensive healthcare cooperation agreement for the 2026–2031 period. The cooperation focuses on supporting professional capacity building and transferring advanced and specialised medical technologies to provincial healthcare staff; establishing, consolidating, and developing training and referral management systems; and implementing staff rotation programmes.
It also includes support for teleconsultation, remote diagnosis and treatment via information technology systems; consultation on establishing and deploying high-quality medical services; and cooperation in scientific research and humanitarian activities.
Prior to the conference, a delegation from Bach Mai Hospital conducted field surveys at clinical and paraclinical departments and functional units of the provincial General Hospital, and presented 15 gift packages to patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.
