Son La bustles with election day activities

On March 15 morning, in the joyful atmosphere of spring, together with voters across the country, voters from various ethnic groups in Son La province enthusiastically went to the polls to elect deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. This is truly a great festival of the national great unity bloc, reflecting the strong will and steadfast trust of the people in the leadership of the Party, the governance of the Government, and the future development of the country.

Son La has three electoral constituencies for National Assembly deputies, 14 constituencies for provincial People’s Council deputies, and 1,580 polling stations. The province has established 76 election committees at the provincial and commune levels; 468 election boards for National Assembly and People’s Council deputies at the provincial and commune levels; and 1,580 election teams.

Through the consultation rounds, the province finalised the official lists of 15 candidates for the legislature, 94 for the provincial People’s Council, and 2,718 for commune-level People’s Councils. A total of 1,683 deputies will be elected, including nine NA deputies, 55 provincial People’s Council deputies, and 1,619 commune-level People’s Council ones. The entire province has more than 915,000 voters exercising their civic rights and duties.

To fully convey the festive atmosphere of the election day to the public, Son La Newspaper and Radio-Television coordinated the organisation of four live broadcast points at key locations: To Hieu ward, Mai Son commune, Thao Nguyen ward and Song Ma commune, while also reporting from many polling stations across the province. The programme “Son La vibrant in the festival of the nation” was broadcast live on STV and livestreamed on STV as well as on the digital platforms of Son La Newspaper and Radio-Television.

Images capturing the lively atmosphere and voters from various ethnic groups at polling stations created a vivid panorama of the people exercising their right to mastery. Alongside the live broadcast points, reporters are present to quickly capture the atmosphere at polling stations across the province. From urban areas to remote mountainous and border hamlets, voters have clearly demonstrated their awareness of their civic rights and responsibilities.

In particular, in border communes, armed forces and local residents have upheld a strong sense of responsibility, participating fully in the election while firmly safeguarding border security. As a result, security and order, traffic safety, and fire prevention at polling stations have been strictly ensured.
