Son La determined to complete elimination of substandard houses before May 19

In response to the Prime Minister's direction to accelerate the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, Son La province has established steering committees from the provincial to commune, ward, and town levels, committing to fulfilling the task by 2025.

According to reports from districts and Son La city, as of January 24, the province still had 2,877 households in need of housing support in 2025. They include 216 households of people who rendered service to the nation, 343 under national target programmes, and 2,318 under Notification No. 523/TB-VPCP dated November 16, 2024, from the Government Office.

To ensure funding for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, from the “For the Poor” fund, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province has allocated 30 billion VND ($1.18 million) to districts and Son La city to support the removal of these houses. Of which, 24 billion VND came from Viettel Group and 5 billion VND from Agribank Son La.

The provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 193/QĐ-UBND on January 23, 2025, to supplement targeted funding from the provincial budget to the district budget to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025 for 144 poor households in Mai Son, Phu Yen, Yen Chau, Thuan Chau, Van Ho, Bac Yen, Sop Cop, Muong La, and Quynh Nhai districts, with 60 million VND per household for new houses. Districts and Son La city are proactively developing plans to use the 5% savings from their budgets to support the removal of substandard houses.
