Son La ensures construction progress of boarding schools in border communes

Ha Trung Chien, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, on December 31 chaired a meeting on the investment and construction of primary-secondary boarding schools in border communes. The meeting was held in person at the provincial People’s Committee headquarters and connected online to the People’s Committees of border communes.

At the meeting, relevant departments and agencies reported on the selection of contractors for the project’s bidding packages, the appraisal of construction design dossiers for implementation after the design stage, difficulties and obstacles encountered; and proposed solutions during the implementation process.

According to reports from the provincial Department of Public Security and the Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects (the project owner), relevant units are focusing on carrying out the necessary steps and procedures to construct boarding schools in the assigned border communes in accordance with regulations. 

Key tasks include completing documentation, site clearance, compensation payments for land clearance, and construction of project components. To date, some schools have begun construction on certain items such as site leveling, foundation construction, stone embankments, and column foundations. The units have committed to carrying out construction in accordance with the approved schedule.

The meeting is connected online to the border communes.

Currently, the communes are intensifying communication efforts to gain public consensus on compensation payments and site clearance to facilitate project construction. Local households have expressed agreement and support for the province’s policy and have requested that relevant units expedite compensation payments for site clearance.

Concluding the meeting, the Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee urged investors to uphold a strong sense of responsibility, closely coordinate with departments and local authorities, and accelerate compensation payments and site clearance.

He also emphasised the need to complete all project documentation and procedures in accordance with legal regulations, speed up construction progress while ensuring quality and safety, and promptly put the schools into operation to meet the learning needs of students in the province’s border areas.
