Son La has new People’s Committee Chairman

Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee, was elected as Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for the 2021-2026 term at the 25th session of the provincial People's Council on November 7.

At the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh was relieved from the position of Chairman of the provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 tenure, and Nguyen Ngoc Van was relieved from the position of member of the provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 tenure. Meanwhile, Dang Trong Cuong, Director of the provincial Department of Public Security, was elected as member of the provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Speaking at the event, Viet thanked the deputies of the provincial People's Council for electing him to the position. He vowed that with the new responsibility, he will do his best, continuously study, devote himself, and strive to fulfill all assigned tasks well. He, together with standing members and members of the provincial People's Committee, will uphold the spirit of solidarity and unity to successfully realise the goals set in the Resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and the provincial Party Congress, and promote the achievements obtained by the province over the periods, thereby contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful Son La province.

At the session, the boards of the provincial People's Council approved verification reports of the draft resolutions submitted to the session; while leaders of the provincial People's Committee delivered explanations in response to these reports.

Participants voted to pass resolutions related to many areas, such as the results of thematic supervision of the provincial People's Council on the implementation of the National Target Programme on New-style Rural Area Building in Son La province for the 2021-2025 period; regulations on the authority to decide on investment and procurement of information technology application activities using regular expenditure funds from the state budget under the management of the province; the allocation and adjustment of the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period; and the adjustment of the 2024 public investment plan.
