Son La honours 55 outstanding intellectuals, creative workers

Son La province’s Union of Science and Technology Associations on November 9 coordinated with the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial Labour Confederation, the provincial Youth Union, the provincial Radio and Television Station and the Tay Bac University to organise a get-together to honour 55 outstanding intellectuals and creative workers in the province in 2023.

Currently, the province has 59,958 intellectuals, of whom 36,434 are officials, civil servants and public employees, and 23,524 work in businesses and non-state organisations.

Every year, they have actively researched and contributed hundreds of ideas, initiatives, and projects that are applied into practice, bringing about practical socio-economic effects. From August 2022 to September 2023, the whole province implemented 42 science and technology tasks, mainly in the fields of agriculture, social sciences and humanity, health, technology and construction, and brand development for key local products.

At the meeting, 55 outstanding intellectuals and creative workers of the province were honoured and awarded trophies. The provincial Vietnam Fatherland Committee presented certificates of merit to 20 individuals; the provincial Labour Confederation awarded certificates of merit to four individuals; the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour gave Creative Labour Certificates to nine; the provincial Youth Union handed over certificates of merit to nine; and the provincial Study Encouragement Association granted certificates of merit to four others.

On this occasion, the provincial Labour Confederation launched an emulation movement on scientific research, technical innovation, good labour, and creative labour among civil servants, public employees, and workers in the province.
