Son La launches 2026 Savings Deposit Week in support of the poor

The Representative Board of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in Son La (VBSP Son La) province held a ceremony on March 25 to launch the 2026 Savings Deposit Week in support of the poor. The event was connected online to 75 commune- and ward-level locations across the province.

Attending the launching ceremony were Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Representative Board of the VBSP Son La; along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, representatives of enterprises, and a large number of youth union members and members of local mass organiations.

The campaign will take place from March 25 to April 25, with the peak week from March 25 to 31. It calls on enterprises, agencies, organisations, officials, civil servants, public employees, workers, youth union members, and people from all walks of life to deposit savings at the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, thereby mobilising additional financial resources to further strengthen policy credit funds and better meet the borrowing needs of the poor and other policy beneficiaries.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau called on authorities at all levels, sectors, organisations, and individuals to actively respond to the campaign by depositing savings, thereby helping to create financial resources to support the poor.

He also requested VBSP Son La to closely coordinate with entrusted socio-political organisations to ensure loans are granted to the right beneficiaries; to strengthen training and guidance on building effective production and business models; and to improve credit quality and operations at commune- and ward-level transaction points, as well as savings and loan groups.

Collectives receive certificates of merit from the provincial People’s Committee for their outstanding achievements in implementing the programme.

On this occasion, the Representative Board of VBSP Son La provided loan support to 10 poor households and policy beneficiary families, with a total amount of 1.3 billion VND (49,300 USD). It also presented certificates of merit from the provincial People’s Committee to eight collectives for their outstanding achievements in implementing the programme.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, provincial leaders, leaders of departments and agencies, and a large number of members of mass organisations opened savings accounts at VBPS Son La. As of 11:00 the same day, hundreds of individuals, organisations, and businesses had opened savings accounts, with total deposits exceeding 16 billion VND.
