The launch ceremony saw the presence of Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; and Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, and dead of the provincial Delegation to the National Assembly, among others.

From July 19 to 27, heavy rains and thunderstorms occurred in the province, causing serious human and asset losses, with five deaths and one missing person. In addition, 324 houses and more than 112 hectares of rice, 18 hectares of fruit trees, annual trees, and flowers were damaged; 90 livestock and 2,560 poultry were swept away. Many roads, irrigation works, school, electricity, water and telecommunications systems were severely affected. The total loss is estimated at over 104.6 billion VND (3.99 million USD).

In order to promptly support affected people, Son La launched this campaign, with the donation period lasting 90 days.

Organisations and individuals can transfer money to account number 3751.0.1045632 of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the State Treasury of Region 10 – Profession Desk 2.

Cash and goods can be directly received at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province, at No. 20, Hoang Quoc Viet street, Chieng Coi ward, Son La province.

At the launch event, 27 individuals and one organisation donated more than 81 million VND in support of recovery efforts.
