Son La leaders meet liaison board in Hanoi

Leaders of the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province held a New Year gathering in Hanoi on January 30 with the Son La officials’ liaison board in the capital.

Attending the gathering were Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the province’s delegation of National Assembly deputies; Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, among others.

At the gathering, delegates were briefed on the province’s key achievements across political, economic, social, defence, security and external affairs in 2025. The briefing said that the Party Organisation, authorities and people of Son La’s ethnic communities upheld unity, renewal, and proactive, innovative approaches to overcome challenges and deliver broad-based results across sectors during the year.

A representative of the Son La officials’ liaison board in Hanoi said members were delighted at the province’s broad-based gains.

For the board’s work in 2025, he said it maintained regular activities to strengthen member ties, while promptly sharing updates on Son La’s socio-economic development with provincial officials living in Hanoi. It also carried forward its role as a conduit for feedback, offering responsible input to support the province’s development, and carried out social welfare initiatives focused on the hometown, helping reinforce national solidarity and project an image of a renewing, growing Son La.

In his remarks, Nghiem outlined Son La’s major policy priorities and directions for the period ahead. He said the province will step up investment in socio-economic infrastructure, with transport a priority, particularly the Hoa Binh–Moc Chau–Son La–Dien Bien expressway.

The province will focus on developing sustainable agriculture linked to high-tech applications, digital transformation and deep-processing industries, while fostering a more favourable environment to attract investment. It will also move to implement social welfare programmes more effectively and advance sustainable poverty reduction, alongside continued efforts to strengthen Party building and rectification and reinforce a pure, resilient political system.

The provincial Party chief expressed his appreciation for the attention, contributions and support provided by members of the Son La officials’ liaison board in Hanoi in recent years, and extended New Year wishes to board members and their families.

He also called on the liaison board to continue upholding its traditions of unity, commitment and responsibility, pooling experience and expertise to help realise the goals set out in the 16th provincial Party Congress resolution - building Son La into a green, fast-growing and sustainable province, emerging as a socio-economic hub of the Northwestern sub-region, and advancing with the rest of the country into a new era of national rise and prosperity.
