Son La prepares for diplomatic event with Japan’s Okayama prefecture

Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on March 23 held a working session with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to prepare for the upcoming meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Japan’s Okayama prefecture.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to receive Ibaragi Ryuta, Governor of Okayama, during his visit to Vietnam from March 25 to 28. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between Okayama and Vietnamese localities in strategic areas such as human resources, agriculture, and textiles.

Son La province has been invited to actively participate in the programme, showcasing its strengths and exploring opportunities to establish and expand partnerships with Okayama.

At the working session, discussions focused on how to highlight Son La’s potential in high-tech agricultural development, agro-processing, and export. Participants also emphasised cooperation opportunities in vocational training and sending workers to Japan, promoting cultural exchanges, and developing tourism cooperation aligned with the strengths of both regions.

Vice Chairman Hau highlighted the significance of the meeting, describing it as an important opportunity to enhance cooperation, promote Son La’s potential, and expand practical investment and partnership initiatives. He urged relevant departments to prepare content that emphasises the province’s strengths, investment opportunities, and specific cooperation proposals.
