As part of the 2025 plan to facilitate overseas employment for local workers, the Department of Home Affairs has developed and finalised a proposal on sending workers abroad under labour contracts for the 2025–2030 period. The proposal is currently undergoing consultation with relevant agencies and stakeholders and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2025.
The province is also drafting a resolution to establish supportive policies tailored to local context and in compliance with current national regulations. In addition, it continues to coordinate with agencies and organisations to implement a study tour of Japan, where many Vietnamese labourers, including those from Son La, are currently working under labour contracts.
In his concluding remarks, Hau urged relevant departments and sectors to continue implementing their assigned tasks. He emphasised the importance of setting clear targets for sending Son La workers abroad for the 2025–2030 period, which will be incorporated into the official proposal.
Training institutions and businesses were asked to coordinate closely during implementation, regularly report on progress and timelines, and contribute to the completion of the proposal and supportive policy framework. He also called for research into appropriate mechanisms and incentives to encourage more workers from Son La to seek overseas employment.
Furthermore, a plan is being developed to send a provincial delegation to Japan and Taiwan to gain insights into effective labour export models. The province will also expedite coordination with the Tourism, Trade and Labour Export JSC (TTLC) to implement support activities for workers preparing for working abroad.
