Son La province gathers resources to build Moc Chau district into town

Over the past time, the project on building Moc Chau district into a town and making the Moc Chau National Tourist Area recognized by 2025 has been synchronously implemented by authorities at all levels and members of the Steering Committee, ensuring ensure the progress.

Regarding the building of Moc Chau into a town, so far, the review and adjustment of sub-division and detailed planning schemes have been carried out in accordance with the right processes and procedures. The implementation of a number of key projects related to urban development has been on schedule. The investment, capital disbursement, investment attraction, and socio-economic development have exceeded the set targets. Currently, Moc Chau reaches 82.93 points in fourth-tier urban development, with all five criteria and 56 out of 63 standards met.

For the development of the Moc Chau National Tourism Area until 2025, surveys, appraisals and recognition of provincial-level tourist destinations have been organised while tourism activities, tourist areas and attractions have been inspected. The province has enhanced the promotion of the Moc Chau National Tourist Area and attracted investors to the development of the area. At present, the area has satisfied 16 out of 20 criteria.

Concluding the event, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh requested the Steering Committee, departments, agencies, sectors and localities to closely follow their assigned tasks, focusing on reviewing and preliminarily evaluating the fulfillment of criteria and standards set for a fourth-tier urban area, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

It is necessary to complete the overall plan for arranging district and commune administrative units as well as the project on establishing Moc Chau town in Son La province, he said.

They must focus on building and completing documents, and submitting them for appraisal and recognition of the Moc Chau National Tourist Area; strengthen coordination to remove difficulties and complete related plans, schemes and projects; and promote activities to attract investment in tourism development.

“We must strive to build Moc Chau district into a town and make the Moc Chau National Tourist Area recognised in line with the set plan,” the provincial leader stressed.
