The PAPI 2023 was jointly announced on April 2 by the Centre for Community Support Development Studies under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam.
With 42.39 points, an increase of 1.52 points from 2022, Son La was among 15-16 provinces/cities in the group of high middle scores.
Among the eight PAPI sub-indexes, the province had six increasing, including participation of residents at grassroots level, openness and transparency in decision making, accountability to the people, delivery of public services, environmental governance, and electronic governance.
The PAPI is an index measuring the effectiveness of provincial governance and public administration based on people's experiences and assessments when interacting with local authorities. The index is a tool to track and monitor the operation, state management, policy implementation and public service provision of local governments, helping them have a basis to adjust and improve work efficiency, and better serve the citizens.
