Speaking at the ceremony, Tien expressed thanks to Jeonju authorities for their visit, discussions and agreement on cooperation with the province.

He said the deal helps operationalise the Government’s policy of strengthening labour cooperation between Vietnamese and RoK localities, while serving as a key measure to create jobs and raise incomes for local workers.

The official highlighted Son La’s pool of more than 800,000 working-age people, many with agricultural experience and the ability to quickly adapt to international working environments, describing this as a key advantage for participation in seasonal employment programmes in the RoK.

He said the province will roll out coordinated measures to bring the agreement into effect, with a focus on communications, transparent recruitment, as well as training, skills development, pre-departure orientation and strengthening labour discipline before workers are sent abroad.

Son La will closely coordinate with Jeonju authorities throughout implementation, ensuring worker dispatch complies with regulations, targets the right candidates and aligns with receivers' demand, he said.

He also called on the Korean side to support and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers during their time in the country.

For his part, Kang spoke highly of Son La’s workforce, particularly their experience in agricultural production. He said the RoK's demand for seasonal farm workers is rising, especially during peak harvest periods, adding that cooperation with Son La will help secure a stable workforce to meet production needs.

Jeonju authorities will work closely with Son La in receiving, managing and supporting labourers, ensuring safe working conditions, lawful rights and suitable living environments for them.

The Jeonju side also expressed interest in expanding cooperation, increasing worker intake and fostering a long-term, sustainable partnership between the two localities.
