Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies; and Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, together with a working delegation, on January 28 reviewed the socio-economic development situation, national defence and security, and inspected the progress of several projects in the border communes of Muong Lan and Sop Cop.

The working delegation visited, inspected combat readiness, and extended New Year greetings to officers and soldiers of the Muong Lan Border Guard Station in Muong Lan commune, and the Nam Lanh Border Guard Station and the Economic-Defence Brigade 326 under Military Region 2 in Sop Cop commune.

Leaders of the units reported on the situation and results of task implementation in 2025, with a focus on professional measures and coordination with local Party committees, authorities, and Lao competent forces in patrols, control, crime prevention and suppression, and ensuring border security and order. Alongside the task of protecting border sovereignty, the units have actively participated in building the grassroots political system, supporting people in economic development and poverty reduction, and effectively implementing social welfare programmes in the localities.

The delegation also reviewed the construction progress of the Muong Lan and Sop Cop Primary-Secondary Boarding Schools. Each project covers an area of 4.9 hectares, with a capacity of approximately 1,000 students, including facilities such as classroom blocks, subject classrooms, libraries, administrative buildings, student and teacher boarding areas, dining halls, multi-purpose sports halls, and other auxiliary works.

The implementation process has received strong consensus and support from local authorities and residents, with generally favourable conditions and compliance with standards and regulations. To date, contractors have carried out site leveling, foundation excavation, and concrete pouring for subject classrooms, administrative buildings, and boarding areas, with overall progress basically ensured.

During the trip, the delegation also visited the Muong Va Tower historical site in Sop Cop commune and inspected the implementation of the project to build technical infrastructure for the central area of Sop Cop commune.

The provincial Party Committee Secretary acknowledged and commended the efforts and achievements of officers and soldiers of the Muong Lan Border Guard Station, the Nam Lanh Border Guard Station, and the Economic–Defence Brigade 326. He requested that the units continue to promote unity, heighten vigilance, proactively grasp the situation, stay close to the area, and ensure security and order in the border region; strengthen the fight against crimes, especially drug-related crimes and smuggling; and take good care of officers and soldiers on duty during the Lunar New Year to maintain high combat readiness, ensuring that people can enjoy a safe and peaceful Tet.

Regarding the Muong Lan and Sop Cop Primary-Secondary Boarding School projects, the provincial Party leader requested construction units to mobilise maximum machinery and manpower, coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to remove difficulties and accelerate construction progress, ensure quality and absolute safety during implementation, and complete the projects on schedule, thereby contributing to improving education quality for students in border areas and strengthening national defence, security, and sustainable development in the border region.
