Tree planting campaign in Year of the Snake launched

The provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a ceremony in Son La city on February 3, or the sixth day of the first lunar month to launch the tree planting campaign in the spring of the Year of the Snake 2025.

Attending event were Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; and Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee.

Following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, Son La province always identifies tree planting as an important task, closely linked to its comprehensive development process not only for today’s but also for future generations. Therefore, at the beginning of each new spring, officials, Party members, civil servants, public employees and people of all ethnic groups in the province join hands in tree planting and afforestation. Localities and units have actively responded to the movement, making it a beautiful cultural feature bringing about great benefits in many aspects.

The campaign is expected to contribute to the comprehensive and sustainable development of Son La province and Son La city in particular, and the successful implementation of the programme of planting one billion trees in the 2021 - 2025 period as launched by the Prime Minister.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, provincial and city leaders as well ass local people participated in planting 70 Taiwan banyan trees along Le Hien Mai street.

Also the same day, localities and units in the province simultaneously organised the tree planting festivals.
