Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee visits Doveco Son La

Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong on June 5 paid a working visit to the Doveco Son La Fruit and Vegetable Processing Centre (Doveco Son La) regarding the purchasing and processing of agricultural products.

During the working session, a representative of the centre provided an update on the purchasing and sale of agricultural products in the province. According to the report, Dong Giao Foodstuff Export JSC. (Doveco) began purchasing mangoes for processing in early June, with an average volume of 150 tonnes per day. The minimum purchase price at the centre is 7,000 VND per kilogram, and the mangoes must weigh at least 400 grammes and be free of pests and damage.

This year, the company plans to purchase approximately 80,000 tonnes of various agricultural products, including over 30,000 tonnes of mangoes, 18,000 tonnes of sweet corn, over 12,000 tonnes of vegetable soybeans, and 2,000 tonnes of longan.

In addition to agricultural purchasing, Doveco Son La has installed Vietnam’s first paper carton fruit packaging line, manufactured by Tetra Pak (Sweden), with a capacity of 6,000 cartons per hour. The centre’s representatives affirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation with local cooperatives, building sustainable production chains, and maintaining stable purchasing prices in accordance with the signed memorandum with the Son La provincial People’s Committee.

Vice Chairman Cong requested that Doveco Son La develop a detailed plan for purchasing and marketing agricultural products, increase its processing capacity, and ensure a sustainable, mutually beneficial relationship between the company, cooperatives, and local farmers.
