The People's Committee of Son La province has appointed Ha Thi Ngoc Yen as Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, effective August 1, 2026. The appointment was announced at a ceremony on August 4 following a decision signed by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee on July 31.

Three children who were swept away by flash floods in Gia Phu commune on the evening of August 1 were found after an overnight search operation led by provincial authorities. The body of the last missing child was recovered at 7:40 a.m. on August 2, concluding the rescue effort.
